Partendo da Carro e passeggiando tra le montagne e i fiumi della Val di Vara, si sentono risuonare gli echi di un passato glorioso: tra il 1200 avanti Cristo e l’arrivo dei Romani, fiorì la civiltà degli antichi liguri.

I castelli, fortificazioni di origine medievale che fungevano anche da residenza dei feudatari, sono disseminati in tutta la Val di Vara e il territorio di Carro. Tra quelli che hanno conservato l’impianto originario, e possono essere visitati, vi è il castello Doria Malaspina di Calice al Cornoviglio.

The castles, medieval fortifications that also served as residences for the feudal lords, are scattered throughout the Val di Vara and the territory of Carro. The Doria Malaspina Castle in Calice al Cornoviglio is among those that have preserved their original structure and are open to visitors.
